For The Days
That Just Go.
You didn’t plan the day. You didn’t plan the outfit. Both worked out. Built by a Queensland family who watched their boys struggle with wardrobe options one too many times and decided to do something about it.
You know the feeling. When nothing in your wardrobe is quite right. Too young. Too stiff. Too whatever.
So you grab the footy shorts. Mum gives you a look. You shrug. And next weekend it happens again. Joy Ryder was made for that moment. Not by a fashion brand. Not by a designer. By a family who watched it play out one too many times and decided to do something about it.
Joy Ryder is linen shorts that don’t need ironing. Swim shorts worth keeping on. Tees that look sharp without trying. Clothes that go where you go — no outfit change, no second-guessing, no drama.
Logo Marks & Brand Rules
Horizontal Wordmark with Star
The primary logo is the main and preferred version of the brand mark. Designed for horizontal layouts where there is enough width to clearly display the full name in one line with strong presence.
Intersecting Hollow Star Mark
The secondary logo is an alternate version created for visual impact and differentiation whilst preserving legibility and style consistency.
Initials JR with Solid Star
Formed by the initials JR, this is a simplified mark used when space is extremely limited. Compact symbol for icons, avatars, and hardware rivets.
Alternative JR Monogram Mark
Alternative stylized JR initials monogram mark providing flexibility across embroidery, pocket tags, apparel labels, and physical metal hardware.
Brand Mark DO NOTs & Optical Alignment
- ✕ Do not flip the wordmark backwards or vertically.
- ✕ Do not outline the wordmark or apply drop shadows.
- ✕ Do not stretch or compress the wordmark proportions.
- ✕ Do not display in unaligned colors outside the brand palette.
- ✓ Optical Alignment (Page 9): Always align relative to the lowercase x-height.
- ✓ Clear Space: Maintain clearspace equivalent to 100% of the star's outer diameter.
Colour Palette & Balance Ratios
This palette balances deep blues with striking orange and yellow to create a fun, recognizable, and confident look. The Soft Sand color brings warmth and approachability, while the dark tone adds contrast.
Our brand colours should be applied according to this ratio, with Deep Sea and Sand serving as the primary base, and Electric, Wave, and Blaze used as secondary and accent tones.
Approved Colour Combinations (PDF Page 12)
High Contrast GuaranteeWhen combining our brand colours, it’s integral to maintain high contrast to ensure the design elements remain visible. Below are the 10 canonical pairings officially approved across the 5 palette backgrounds:
Typography Architecture
Dazzed Bold
The brand’s primary typeface. Used across headlines, product titles, hero banners, and key navigational points. Tracking: 0, leading: 0, case: UPPERCASE.
Dazzed Medium
The brand’s secondary typeface for supporting copy, subheadlines, and bodycopy. Used in smaller sizing for effortless readability.
Graphic Elements, Patterns & Usage System
The Joyryder graphic system introduces iconicism and tactile depth into the visual identity across digital, packaging, hardware, and physical apparel trims. Grounded in our official brand guidelines, this system establishes exact rules for repeating patterns, the 5-point retro star, the monogram mark, and background contrast compliance.
The 3 Official Brand Patterns (PDF Page 18)
Extracted repeating tile of the primary horizontal wordmark in deep tones. Primarily used on premium unbleached tissue wraps, shipping box interior liners, and subtle e-commerce bag tape.
Geometric grid of 5-point stars across Deep Sea Navy (#001837). Creates a premium coastal surf feel on hangtags, poly-mailer outer bags, sticker sheets, and storefront promotional cards.
High-energy repeating monogram pattern in Blaze Orange (#FF4100). Engineered for maximum visual impact on launch campaign packaging, tote bags, and jacket pocket linings.
The 4 Canonical Usages of the 5-Point Retro Star (PDF Page 19)
The 5-point star is Joy Ryder's iconic signature motif. In our visual system, it is deployed purposefully across four specific functions, maintaining strict contrast discipline across all surfaces:
Standalone Brand Star
Rendered as an isolated brand symbol across the 5 palette colors. Used as stickers, hangtag eyelets, app icons, and embroidered pocket accents.
Photography Framing
Signature aesthetic: cropping authentic teen candid photography inside the 5-point star silhouette to create dynamic campaign collages.
Headline & Badge Accents
Used as an editorial punctuation mark to highlight key phrases, end of copy, and technical badge specs without clutter.
Star Background Rules
- ✓ Solid Contrast Surfaces: Use Navy stars on Soft Sand (#F0E9D1) or White, and Sand/Electric stars on Navy (#001837).
- ✕ Do not use stars over linear footers or striped lines: When lines and stripes are present, stars produce visual clutter and legibility loss.
- ✕ Avoid low contrast: Never place Wave blue stars on Deep Sea navy, or Electric yellow on Soft Sand.
The 4 Canonical Usages of the Monogram Mark (PDF Page 6 & 7)
The monogram mark (jr★) and alternative monogram provide compact visual punch when space is constrained. Below are the 4 official deployment standards:
Micro Digital Icons
Maintains legibility at 16px, 24px, 32px, and 48px where the full horizontal wordmark would become unreadable.
Apparel Hardware & Trims
Debossed on metal swim-short side buckles, cast into hoodie eyelets, engraved into button rivets, and woven on side seam pocket flags.
Contrast on Backgrounds
The monogram must strictly adhere to the Page 12 contrast rules across light, dark, and vibrant surfaces.
Alternative Monogram
Extracted from PDF Page 7. Stylized cursive initials used exclusively for interior neck size heat transfers and tonal embroidery.
